What is a fair trial? According to the Sixth Amendment, it is a quick and public trial by a jury. A jury is a group of twelve men and women. A jury is chosen to listen to both sides of a court case. The jury decides if the arrested person is guilty or innocent.

In 2002, a man named José Padilla was captured in Chicago. He was a U.S. citizen. He was accused of helping Al Qaeda make a plan against the United States government. He was in prison for three years before he was charged with a crime. In 2008, he was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
