1940’s

It is now the 1940’s. America has entered World War II to fight against Germany, Italy, and Japan. Japanese-American citizens from the west coast are forced to live in internment camps. President Roosevelt is worried that they might be spies.

Fred Korematsu is a Japanese-American. He refuses to go to an internment camp and is arrested. In the 1944 Supreme Court case, Korematsu vs. United States, the judges rule that the government can suspend the right to a fair trial during war. Over 100,000 citizens are forced into internment camps. They never get a fair trial.
